As technology is moving towards advancement, the internet is also evolving. The way we access the internet is about to change. Why? It’s all thanks to Web3. Initially, only a small number of businesses had the power to influence us. The emergence of Web3 technologies has changed everything.

These Web3 enterprises work to build a more democratic and equitable internet using blockchain and other decentralized technologies. It would fundamentally change how individuals and businesses conduct business online.

The Dark Side Of Big-Tech Companies

Several serious problems emerged as web 2.0 expanded. Big tech firms like Alphabet (Google), Facebook (Parent Company Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple begin to dominate sizable portions of the internet’s capacity. The internet, formerly decentralized, has become an increasingly centralized space where a small number of people use other people’s data for their gain. Brands (and other entities) looking to engage with their audience have become highly interested in the data acquired by these websites. The internet has a complete picture of who we are, including everything we buy, watch, read, and engage with online. This extensive knowledge later becomes part of our online profiles. We thus acquire ads for goods we didn’t realize we wanted daily. We only choose to read and watch things that are similar to our personal preferences. The rights of personal data become a highly debated issue as it becomes clear that it is a valuable commodity.

Beyond The Buzz – A Web3 Solution

Web3 promises to return the user’s control. Web3 uses blockchain technology to build a decentralized internet known as the “read-write-own” internet where people can own their products and receive their payment for them. Data is spread over numerous servers operated by different people, as opposed to being concentrated on one server owned by a large IT company. It transfers control from a small group’s prejudices to a large group’s control. The idea has been around since 2014, but it has only recently acquired support as blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and NFT (non-fungible token) marketplaces have grown in popularity. The popularity of cryptocurrencies has demonstrated how decentralization produces a permission-less and unreliable framework, both of which are essential for a people-owned internet. The potential of Web3 has led venture capitalists to start funding Web3 businesses. It won’t take long for Web3 to completely emerge and for pressure to limit the dominance of large tech companies to increase, leading to a more decentralized internet.

Using Web3 Technologies To Build A Better Internet Experience

The decentralization of this internet has numerous effects. Decentralized applications (apps) would host websites and support a single sign-on that is anonymous and protects user privacy. All transactions would be documented on the blockchain, which is available to everyone but can only be accessed discreetly. This develops an open-source platform where DAOs may be used to achieve democratic governance (decentralized autonomous organizations). Based on their investment in the website, users would be able to influence how a particular platform develops. Without the need for middlemen, smart contracts will produce smooth transactions. A popular social media post, for example, can be created on the blockchain and “minted” (produced) as an NFT, a token that verifies ownership of a digital asset. By doing this, the creator can receive a credit instead of the platform where it was produced. These are used frequently in play-to-earn games nowadays, where users fully own in-game things and can even trade them in non-game marketplaces, and are one of the most well-known applications of this today.

Better Product Delivery Through Web3 Marketing

Web3 technologies have strengthened personal privacy, making it more difficult for marketers to get third-party data necessary to understand their customers and perform targeting campaigns. Unwanted advertisements would no longer be shown to users as a result. To obtain clients’ personal information, marketers must devise novel strategies. People can decide what personal information they share with businesses, how they disclose it, and how much remuneration they receive by transferring ownership to legitimate data owners. As a result, community and relationship-building will receive more attention in marketing. The quality of better goods and services will prevail over pointless advertising. To earn customers’ trust, businesses will be compelled to keep their promises to their brand. Web3 marketing will be more open and truthful, putting the needs of the consumer first. Brands will employ NFTs more frequently as limited-edition items or prizes for devoted customers as they continue to acquire acceptance. It’s an anticipation that more well-known companies will produce NFTs to thrill their customers, like Nike, Coca-Cola, Gucci, and others.

The Insane Future of Web3

Web3 is still developing. Even though the rationale for why Web3 is necessary is altruistic, many questions remain unanswered. Despite the lack of complete Web3 infrastructure, Web3 businesses have thrived as awareness and adoption of Web3 technologies increased. But one thing is sure. Adopting Web3 in the future will be necessary to overcome the current problems with Web 2.0, even if it takes some time for mainstream acquisition. However, there is no doubt that widespread recognition will happen sooner rather than given the growth of Web3 businesses and the ongoing advancements in Web3 technologies.
